Archaeological work has taken place over
the last 4 years in the gardens, by WYAS with a schools project. This
was backed up by South Leeds Archaeological Group who continued with the
'dig'.
21st June 2008
Excavations have nearly finished for this year. We have found,
Post holes, Building platform, pottery and iron nails.
Watch this space for further infomation.
25th May 2008 to 29th May 2008
South Leeds continued the WYAS excavation.

Excavation of 2 Wells in the grounds of Oakwell Hall, lead by
Dave Wheldrake.

Finds:
Some small sherds of pottery, 1 large rim and 1 sherd of suggested medieval
pottery.
20 May 2008
Working with Dave Wheldrake (WYAS) with a Schools Project.
Two trenches underway with hope to find postholes to show a structure
found of map references.

History
Oakwell Hall is a manor house built in 1583 and furnished as a family
home of the 1690s. Built of stone with mullion windows, the hall contains
a rich collection of original and reproduction furniture and everyday
items.
