What is SLA
?

South Leeds Archaeology (SLA), brings together individuals who are interested in archaeology, share information, learn from each other and further everyone's understanding. Founded in 2005 by a group of like minded individuals and spearheaded by their archaeology teacher, SLA now has over 20 members. It works closely with the West Yorkshire Achieve Service (WYAS).

What does SLA do?

  • It holds monthly meetings throughout the year , usually on the 2nd thursday of the month, (please check events/meetings page for changes). Lectures from professional archaeologists and armature enthusiasts on a wide range of topic all in an information gathering. There is an annual party and social gatherings which brings our members together.
  • Members can participate in archaeological desktop research, excavations, fieldwalking, surveys and post-excavation studies.
  • It regularly sends out newsletters to all it's members with reports of work done and work to be done.

How do I get involved?

If your are interested in any of SLA's activities or have ideas of your own, why not become a member? We welcome experienced archaeologists and complete beginners of all ages. To become a member you can email or call.
