Middleton Park Update talk by Martin Roe - Tuesday 25th September 2007
Martin talked about the past year surveys and detailed the discoveries made. A good turn out by local residents, Friends of Middleton park and South Leeds Archaeology.

We have now had two days of excavation at Oakwell Hall. Saturday the weather was fine but for Sunday we had to work through showers all day.

Despite the weather we now have some idea of what is going on in the trench with a clearly defined plough furrow which lines up with a depression running down the field – medieval ridge and furrow ploughing is the most likely explanation. In the northern end of the trench a scatter of stones has turned from a possible land drain (first impression) into a path or trackway.
